Batemans Bay lies in at the heart of the Eurobodalla section of the South Coast of New South Wales. The town is situated on the estuary of the Clyde River, which provides access to the open ocean as well as a large tidal estuary system that is a superb venue for fishing and boating activities. Clyde River oysters are claimed to be the best in the country and the south coast is noted as having some of the cleanest and least polluted ocean waters in the world. The town of Batemans Bay revolves around its tourist industry and its seaside activities. It has a large commercial fishing industry as well as legendary recreational charter fishing. The marina is home to a fleet of big game and recreational fishing craft that are available for day charter. There are several National Parks close to Batemans Bay. They provide the opportunity to participate in activities like rock climbing, bushwalking and camping. The ambience of the Australian bush can be enjoyed here and the wildlife is prolific. There are koala, wombats, Echidna and Kangaroo and in the streams lives the elusive Platypus. The Eucalypt forests in the surrounding mountains are alive with native birds of all descriptions.
